Responding to the Needs of the Region
Agriculture and Rural Development: Programmes aligned with the County's drive toward competitive agriculture, sustainable livestock development, fisheries, and cooperatives.
Health: West Pokot has just 2 doctors and 46 nurses per 100,000 people, against WHO standards of 100 and 300. As the College matures, medicine, nursing, and allied health sciences will help close this gap.
Natural Resources: Water, forests, wildlife, and minerals remain largely untapped. The College will build expertise in environmental science, water resources, forestry, wildlife conservation, geology, and mining.
Research: The College aims to become a flagship centre for Arid and Semi-Arid Lands, Rangelands, and Pastoral Studies in Kenya and East Africa, with research in:
Agriculture, livestock, and the pastoral economy
Mining and geology
Security and peace studies
Health sciences and community health
Water resources and climate resilience
Natural resource management and environmental studies
Indigenous knowledge and cultural studies
Renewable energy and green technologies
Tourism and hospitality
